Best Time to Visit Chandigarh

Summers in Chandigarh are extremely hot and sweaty and monsoons are highly unpredictable. If you are planning a pleasure trip to this city, then the perfect time to visit is between November and March.

Beginning of November and end of March are rather warmer, while from end of December to February are cooler, however during these months, one can escape the harsh summer heat and enjoy outdoors too.

Chandigarh being close to the mountains, if you are also planning to visit the mountains, then summer season is the best when the plains are hot and the mountains are much cooler. Visit Kasauli in just over one hour's drive from Chandigarh or Shimla in over three hour's drive. You can also catch the hop on-hop off train from Kalka to Shimla and enjoy the slow train ride through the mountains or travel in a helicopter from Chandigarh airport in just over 20 minutes ride to Shimla.

Speaking of rainfall, during the monsoons it can be quite amusing to enjoy a spell or two of rain outdoors. Driving through the city can also be a delightful experience while it is raining in order to enjoy a cool escape from hot weather.
