Air India Jumps Ahead of IndiGo to Offer the First International Flight From Chandigarh

August 11, 2016 (Airportchandigarh.com): Air India is all set to offer the first international flight from Chandigarh to Sharjah International Airport on September 15, 2016. Just a few days ago, IndiGo airlines had announced a flight from Chandigarh to Dubai from September 26, 2016.
Air India's annoucement came in as a surprise because there was no time frame announced regarding the start date previously for the international flight to Sharjah. Both Sharjah and Dubai are located in UAE (United Arab Emirates).

Here are the details of Chandigarh to Sharjah flight (based on local newspapers. Check directly with Air India to confirm):

Frequency: Monday, Thursday, Saturday

Sharjah to Chandigarh

Departure: 12:45 pm (GST)
Arrival: 5:15 pm (IST)

Chandigarh to Sharjah

Departure: 6:15pm (IST)
Arrival: 8:00 pm (GST)

Air India's Boeing 737-800 having a passenger capacity of 180 will be used for these flights. Inaugural fare will be less than Rs. 10,000 for a return flight. So far we have not been able to find any option to book these flights online. AirIndia.com is also not showing any information about this flight. It seems that they are in a process to update the booking and flight schedules.
