Chandigarh Airport Mohali to Open Again On June 1
May 31, 2018: Chandigarh Airport will reopen on June 1st after being closed from May 12 to 31. Chandigarh Airport has been gearing up for long haul international flights by upgrading the runway and extending its length. The airport is also preparing for flight operations during the night. After the work is completed by next year, the new runway will be used for bigger aircrafts capable of travelling long distance to European countries and North America.
A significant number of international passengers who land at Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi are Punjabi NRIs. They are expected to use Mohali Airport instead once the international flights at the airport are fully operational. This will create many business opportunities in the region giving a boost to the real estate, hotel and transportation industry.
After May this year, new flights to Indore, Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Bangalore and Kolkata will also commence. A chopper service is also starting from June 4th from Chandigarh to Shimla.
