Flights to Indore Via Jaipur Commence

September 24, 2011:  Today, the first flight from Chandigarh to Indore via Jaipur commenced. On this first day, the Jet Airways flight operated with about 45 per cent occupancy.

The flight is set for daily operation with departure from Chandigarh Airport at 3.10 pm, arrival at Jaipur at 4.35 pm and then a final touch down at Indore at 6:35 pm. The same flight continues to Kolkata, where it will arrive at about 11 pm. The return flight would arrive in Chandigarh at 2.20 pm.

The fares are as follows: Chandigarh to Jaipur: Rs 2,600, Chandigarh to Indore: Rs 2,800 and Chamdigarh to Kolkata: Rs 4,600.

Prashant S Kumar, Jet Airways Assistant Manager (Key Accounts), remarked that the flight, which will also go to Kolkata, is getting a good response. He added that Kolkata service will offer the convenience of not having to change flights to reach their destinations and will therefore save passengers time and hassles.

Demand from tourists from Jaipur and Indore wanting a direct connection to the city were another reason that the flight was started. Tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh will no longer have to go to Delhi for a transfer. They can now take the easier trip to come to the UT and proceed from here.

Jet Airways will also start operating a direct flight to Leh from October 31. This twice-a-week-flight (Monday & Thursday) is being started to serve increasing tourist demand as well as student passengers from Leh studying in Chandigarh.
