CHANDIGARH, Sept 23, 2011: Today private carrier Jet Airways, is helping the city to add another destination to its domestic flight service. Jet Airways is launching a daily flight to Jaipur with capacity for 62 passengers. This is the first new destination added at Chandigarh airport since October 2010 when a flight to Bangalore was started.

Captain H S Toor, Director of local airport, noted that Jaipur is the first new destination with service to and from the city airport since the inauguration of its new terminal building. He said that the Jaipur flight would operate using ATR-72 aircraft and also mentioned that a Chandigarh-Leh flight would start from next month.

There are 11 regular flights currently operating from Chandigarh airport, which include connections to domestic destinations like Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Jammu and Srinagar. The major airlines operating from Chandigarh are Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines and Go Air.

The new Jaipur flight was established mainly to serve foreign and domestic tourists. The between Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh will be shortened for passengers, who will save time on the road journey and will have the convenience of flying directly to Chandigarh instead of going to New Delhi first.
