Jet Airways Flight Sent Back to Mumbai

June 7, 2010: After circling the city for more than half an hour, a Jet Airways Mumbai-Chandigarh flight was diverted back to Mumbai. Heavy rains and the absence of Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the Chandigarh Airport made it impossible for the plane to land. The flight’s 100 passengers, who were scheduled to land at Chandigarh Airport at 12:55 pm, finally landed at 6.45 pm after the detour. A senior official at the airport was disappointed over the situation. “With the ILS, the aircraft would have landed easily,” he said.
